How to Remove Love Bugs From Your Car

Yup, Love Bug season is imminent here in Charleston, and everybody is dreading the havoc these pesky insects will cause, particularly when it comes to their vehicles.

Here’s our advice on what to do, and what not to do, to preserve your paint work over the next few weeks.

How to Remove Love Bugs From Your Car

DON’T: Leave the mess on your car, thinking you can clean it later. Love Bugs are very acidic and can erode your paint in as little as three days.

DON’T: Spray the front of your car with Pam or WD40. They’ll blow all over your car and the sun will bake the chemicals into the paint.

DON’T: Try and wipe your car down with new or used dryer sheets. These sheets are usually made of polyesters or plastics, not cotton, and if used with too much pressure or too much frequency, will rub right through your shiny top coat.

DO: Wash thoroughly and regularly with a car friendly soap and plenty of clean water.
